CompTIA Project+ validates the core skills to manage small and medium-sized projects, with an IT focus. It covers the project life cycle, tools and documentation, and basic IT governance, and it’s a practical alternative to heavier project management credentials.

How I passed
What the exam covers
PK0-005 covers four domains:
- Project management concepts
- Project life cycle phases
- Tools and documentation
- Basics of IT and governance
Exam format
- Up to 90 questions in 90 minutes
- Passing score: 710 on a scale of 100 to 900

Who it’s for
IT staff who run projects without the title, team leads, coordinators and anyone moving into project management.
How to prepare
- Learn both predictive (waterfall) and agile approaches, and when each fits.
- Know the common project documents and what goes in each: charter, scope statement, WBS, risk register and RACI.
- Practice the change control process until it’s second nature.
- Don’t skip the IT governance domain: data privacy, security and compliance basics.
- Do timed practice exams. Ninety minutes goes quickly.
